We have no kind of name for the ones who like to speak like you
We have no line to cross, no symptoms to give you
We will not hold and we will not clean that greasy seed that you once upon a time named
We hunt down that stain beneath the knees of those whose second chance never came
Don’t you want to know the kind of progress that our sacred hand brings? No? No?
Will you not at least begin to breathe, begin to seethe, and tire of all these songs we used to sing?
Is there not a pose that grows throughout those you so humbly try to please?
Is there not pain inside the unworthy, the un-chided, the unattested, the uninitiated, the un-diseased?
We know of that time you spent walking towards our alluring embrace, yes we do, yes we do
We hold dear those hearts and minds, once shamed, once abated, and once upon a time erased
No mind that slow form of word that shelters you as it comes out to greet our love, yeah, oh yeah
We’d like to see you come through, we’d like to see you know how to be you, in the presence of us
We’ve not much time to look back and gather at the feet of some new form, some new kind, some new shape, some new name
In the kind of name of the other arm
In the name of the kind of the other arm
In the name of the other kind of arm
We try to be you
We try to see you

This is how we’ve come to exchange these very words
This is how I’d like to teach you all about something I find absurd
This is a program of words stretched thin and bordering on the unsure
This is a diagram, a chore, that I’ve vowed to explain, vowed to attain the tight grip that’s used in the name of those who shame the whore, those who’ve been here before, and those who lure out the youth in vain and always seem to complain that somehow it’s all the same
I saw into yours
You saw into mine
Do you understand?
This is how I tried to talk to you one on one
This is how I built some vessel unclouded by my verbal son
This is how I speak inside of your company
This is a symbol I’ve developed, stretched out, torn, painted over again, quite abruptly, maybe this is why they come to me, but I’ve sucked clean those words written in that symbol’s foundry, what’s wrong with an epiphany?, wait, who’s burning whose effigy?
I saw into yours
You saw into mine
I tried to see into yours
You tried to see into mine
Do you understand?

I came to you and only you
You never knew how much I needed to talk to you, did you? Did you? Do you?
I used to lie down on this floor
But that doesn’t happen anymore
I said it doesn’t happen anymore!
Of love and life and luscious seed
It makes me need, it makes me believe
I said it makes me believe!
Give me your word and I won’t leave you here
Don’t argue with me, just whisper the word that you hold most dear
You speak, I speak
One foot in front of the other man
He tries to make me understand
He tells me to make a plan
I need a plan! I said I need a plan!
But he’s not the one who taught me what to say
You taught me, okay?
You taught me what to save
You taught me how to behave
Now it’s so quiet and no one’s here
Now we can speak about those words you hold most dear
